You're more likely to meet someone you click with if you spend time doing things that you find interesting. If you love your career, a sport, a hobby, volunteering, anything that people can do as a team or a group then you'll meet other people with the same interests and one day it will just happen - when you are least expecting it.
You won't find them if you sit at home alone, or refuse to try anything new.
Go out and live and let them find you.

I agree that its hard to find anyone to 'click' with these days, be it romantically or socially. It somehow seemed easier at school and university.
This may be because in these environments people are persuing their own interests. It also takes the social pressure off, as this is not the primary purpose of being there. Doing a short course (or even a degree) can have social benefits and may be a good way to meet people with similar interests.

I heard of some shopping centres having 'singles evenings' where singles are encouraged to talk, flirt and generally make contact with each other.
I think that its actually a pretty good way to meet someone local. And it sounds like fun...
